Kickin’ It Old School at the Kiddie Pool

Ahhhh…the pool!  👙☀️⛱🏊🏻‍♀️🕶What better way to cool off on a hot day, have the kiddos be entertained and hang out with their friends, and nosh on snacks for hours on end?

I really enjoy going to the pool (mind you…getting READY to go to the pool is another story…ugh, all the things to pack!!!). Even though I am not so much a fan of summer and the sun and I have never been BFF’s; going to the pool with my kiddos is a summer highlight.

The 3 older kiddos pretty much go off with their friends once we hit the pool chairs, leaving me and baby girl to hang out together…in the baby pool!  Baby girl loves splashing around the “swee-poo” (as she calls it) and playing with the balls and fountains. In the few moments that she is blissfully distracted (by aforementioned balls and fountains), I do get to people watch a bit and, so far, I’ve made one pretty glaring observation:

I’m the oldest Mom at the baby pool.

How do I know this?  Hmmm…there may be a few telltale signs:

But, guess what? I am 150% OK with it!

The ball cap does a darn good job protecting my face from burns! The sunglasses really do help cut down the glare off the water! My crepey-skinned turkey neck is dotted with freckles-which I have always loved having! And, the bathing suit…in its sensibility lies its brilliance: I can play with all my kiddos – in the baby and big-kid swee-poos – with darn near reckless abandon because I don’t have to worry about anything popping out, sticking out, riding up, or falling down! 🤭😳

So while I may never win any swimsuit competitions or be admired for my pool finesse…the smiles, giggles, splash-fights, and playing is truly all the reward I need (I know, I know…SapFest in Cliche’ville – but, what can I say? It’s totally true!).

Keep kickin’ it old school at the baby (and big-kid) pool and have fun, mAMAs!!!

“For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them”

Ephesians 2:10
